On Wednesday 9 April, Ambassador Marie Chatardová attended the "Roma in the UK" conference in Peterborough. The conference was part of a wider series of events to mark International Roma Day and the 15th anniversary of the Compass Charity, led by the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Peterborough, Petr Torák.
The Roma in the UK Conference was a unique gathering designed to celebrate and amplify the voices of Roma leaders and pro-Roma community organisations from across the UK. The event provided a platform for collaboration, dialogue and inspiration, bringing together individuals and groups working to promote Roma culture, heritage and rights.
Participants had the opportunity to explore engaging stalls showcasing the work and contributions of Roma organisations, learn about innovative social services, and engage in thought-provoking discussions on contemporary issues affecting migrant Roma communities.
