During her visit, Irena Valentová met with the Bailiff and Speaker of the States Assembly, Robert MacRae, Deputy Chief Minister Tom Binet, and other representatives. The discussions confirmed Jersey’s ambition to further develop its financial sector while seeking new opportunities for international cooperation. The island also offers promising prospects for Czech businesses, particularly in the fields of financial technology and digital solutions. Other topics of discussion included Jersey’s relations with the European Union and the United Kingdom, the future of fisheries, and the impact of climate change.

The Deputy Head of the Embassy also took part in a panel discussion on the potential of small states in a rapidly changing Europe. During her stay, she met with members of the Czech community living on the island and paid tribute to Charles Strasser, the last Czechoslovak Second World War veteran living in the United Kingdom.
