This year's programme focused on the question of how scientific research shapes the world around us. It featured keynote lectures as well as presentations by early-career Czech researchers based in the United Kingdom.

Participants had the opportunity to hear from Monika Brusenbauch Meislová, holder of the Jean Monnet Chair at Masaryk University and a recognised expert on European integration and EU-UK relations. Otakar Fojt, Senior Science and Innovation Adviser at the British Embassy in Prague, spoke about the importance of Czech-British cooperation in research and innovation. A perspective on the intersection of academia, art, and the public sphere was offered by Helena Cox, art historian and curator at the University of York.

"Czech scientists and researchers working in the United Kingdom are among the leading experts in their fields and serve as natural bridges between the Czech Republic and Britain. Their achievements enhance the reputation of our country while creating new opportunities for cooperation in research, innovation, and education. I am pleased that the Czech Embassy in London can provide a space for them to meet and continue building this exceptionally inspiring community," said Ambassador Václav Bartuška.

"I am delighted that this year's London Calling placed an even stronger emphasis on the humanities and social sciences. This disciplinary diversity allows us to identify the topics that connect us, discuss shared challenges, strengthen cooperation between the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, and build a community that supports one another," said Jana Nahodilová, President of the British-Czech Association in London.

"In addition to fostering a community of Czech researchers in the United Kingdom, we are also focused on supporting their return to the Czech Republic. We help develop grant programmes and systemic conditions that increase the attractiveness of the Czech academic environment," said Natálie Hrbková on behalf of the Czexpats in Science initiative.

Czexpats in Science is a non-profit initiative connecting Czech scientists and researchers with international experience. Through regular meetings, workshops, and networking events, it supports the exchange of knowledge and contributes to the development of the Czech research and innovation ecosystem.
