Visit the exhibition Czech Footprints in Slovenia in The Park of Military History Pivka

On 13 July 2023 at The Park of Military History Pivka the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana, Juraj Chmiel, opened the exhibition "Czech Footprints in Slovenia” which is an original work by Embassy staff members. The exhibition features individuals of Czech origin who have successfully contributed to the strengthening of Slovenian national identity, culture, education, infrastructure and even the sports movement.

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana Juraj Chmiel and the director of the museum Janko Boštjančič opened the exhibition. In a pleasant atmosphere, the guests, including the Deputy Mayor of Pivka, Mrs. Majda Godina and Director of the Institute for Tourism Pivka, Mrs. Jana Gržinič, enjoyed the exhibition and thanked the Ambassador for his excellent cooperation. At the same time, they expressed their conviction that the successful cooperation between the Embassy and the Municipality of Pivka will continue even after the end of his mandate as ambassador to Slovenia.

The 22-panel exhibition presents the close ties between the two nations and personalities of Czech origin in the fields of architecture, music, theatre, film, photography, science, medicine, etc., who have successfully contributed to the building of Slovenian national identity, culture, education, infrastructure and, last but not least, the sports movement, and have made an indelible mark on Slovenian history. The vast majority of them have even found a new home and settled here.

The exhibition was initiated by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana, which is also the author of the exhibition in cooperation with the Prague Castle Administration (design of the exhibition).

The exhibition, which has already been presented in Ljubljana, Škofja Loka, Hrastnik, Celje and the NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence, is now open until the end of August at the most visited museum in Slovenia - The Park of Military History Pivka.

55,561 visitors visited The Park of Military History Pivka last year, which is very close to the record number of visitors in 2019 before the pandemic, when 58,652 visitors were recorded. In 2022, 8,947 visitors from 47 foreign countries also visited The Park of Military History Pivka. The Czechs ranked 4th and represented 8% of foreign visitors.

The exhibition can also be viewed in the attachment.
