Ethiopia - Visa Implementing Decision

In accordance with Art. 25a of the Visa Code (cooperation on the readmission of irregular migrants) and based on a report of the European Commission, Schengen area Member States decided to temporarily adopt an implementing decision with respect to Ethiopia.
The implementing decision applies to citizens of Ethiopia who require a visa to enter the Schengen area and who apply for a Schengen visa regardless of their place of stay.
The implementing decision does not apply to citizens of Ethiopia who are family members of EU citizens or who submit a Schengen visa application for the purpose of participating in an international organization meeting or in an international conference organized by EU Member States.
When applying for a Schengen visa, citizens of Ethiopia are required to observe the following:
● all applicants must present all supporting documents when applying for a Schengen visa
● holders of diplomatic and service passports must pay the visa fee
● period to decide on an application is extended to 45 days (as opposed to 15 days)
● only a single-entry Schengen visa can be issued
The implementing decision is in effect as of June 1, 2024.
