Call for project proposals: media literacy, human rights, anticorruption and judicial reforms

The Embassy of the Czech Republic is pleased to announce the launch of a call for proposals for Ukrainian NGOs in three specific areas (please see below). The call for proposals seeks projects that are of a maximum duration of four months (completed by October 31, 2017). The average contribution is expected to be in the range of 500 000 - 2 000 000 CZK (approx. 530 000 – 2 100 000 UAH) for each individual project. Please note the deadline for proposal submission is 15th June 2017.

The Transition Promotion Program is a democracy assistance financial instrument of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic established in 2005. This program is aimed at supporting democracy and human rights, using the Czech Republic’s recent experience with the social transition and democratization of the country. The programme underpins the importance of civil society in democratization processes.

The program is administrated by the Human Rights & Transition Policy Department that functions as an implementing agency. For this call only Ukrainian NGOs are eligible. Deadline for submission of project proposals is 15th June 2017, 17:00, Kyiv time. Proposals received after this date will not be considered.

Budget, Duration and Eligibility

Three types of activities in the priority areas described below will be supported. The call for proposals seeks projects that are of a maximum duration of four months  (starting in July and due to the end of the fiscal year finishing on 31st October 2017).  The average contribution is expected to be in the range of 500 000 - 2 000 000 CZK (approx. 530 000 – 2 100 000 UAH) for each individual project. Projects in general should not be smaller than 500 000 CZK. The payment will be made in UAH through bank transfer using the exchange rate published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. In order to be eligible for a grant the applicant must be a) a legal entity b) a civil society organization c) established in Ukraine.

The priority areas are following:

1) Promoting Critical Thinking and Media Literacy in Ukrainian Public

2) Advocacy, Advising and Implementation of Anti-corruption and Judicial Reforms

3) Monitoring, Analysis and Advocacy of Human Rights in Crimea and/or Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts

The standard project and budget forms, found on this website, should be submitted electronically to lucie_hanzlickova@mzv.cz and in copy to  alina_cubko@mzv.cz . These standard application forms should be completely filled out; otherwise the proposal will not be taken into consideration. Filled form should not exceed 8 pages. Applications must be submitted in English with a detailed and transparent budget, estimating all costs. Only applications that strictly followed the instructions will be assessed.

Should you have any questions please send them in a written form to lucie_hanzlickova@mzv.cz and alina_cubko@mzv.cz in copy no later than 4 days prior the deadline. The Embassy has a right not to provide clarifications to questions received after this date.

The Embassy reserves the right to cancel the call for proposals or its part at any time.
