Foreign Minister Petr Macinka will attend the Council of Europe ministerial meeting in Chișinău, Moldova, on 14–15 May 2026. One of the key items on the agenda will be migration. Heads of delegation from the organisation’s 46 member states are expected to adopt a political declaration stressing the need to prevent illegal migration. Discussions will also focus on Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“Europe must be capable of protecting its borders and preventing uncontrolled immigration, which I consider one of the greatest threats to the internal security not only of our country,” said Macinka.
During his visit to Moldova, the foreign minister will also hold a series of bilateral meetings. In addition to a working breakfast with Moldovan President Maia Sandu, he is scheduled to meet Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi and Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov. He will also meet with the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Andorra, Monaco and San Marino.
