The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Co-Organises Ibero-American Week, with an International Conference at the Czernin Palace as the Main Event

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic is organising the fourth edition of Ibero-American Week from 18 to 24 May 2026 in cooperation with the embassies of Latin American countries, Spain and Portugal in Prague, the Cervantes and Camões cultural institutes, and other partners. The programme will feature a series of debates, expert discussions and cultural events aimed at strengthening ties between the Czech Republic and the countries of the Ibero-American region.
The highlight of this year’s programme will be the international conference “The Czech Republic and Ibero-America – New Forms of Cooperation in the Current Geopolitical Context”, which will take place on 21 May 2026 at the Czernin Palace.
The conference will be opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Petr Macinka together with Uruguay’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mario Lubetkin, whose country currently holds the presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). Other speakers will include Ivan Marques, Secretary for Multidimensional Security of the Organization of American States, José Antonio Arróspide del Busto, President of the EU-LAC Foundation, and João Taborda, Vice President of the Brazilian company Embraer.
The Ibero-American Week programme will also include cultural and academic events organised by the diplomatic missions of Ibero-American countries, cultural institutes and Czech universities, including Charles University, the University of South Bohemia and Masaryk University.
