Czech Aid Supports Life-Saving Equipment for Jinnah Burn Centre in Lahore

On 30th July 2024, a significant milestone in healthcare development was achieved with the successful conclusion of a collaborative project between the Czech Embassy in Islamabad, Médecins du Monde Pakistan, and the Jinnah Burn and Reconstructive Surgery Centre in Lahore. The project, funded through Czech Aid’s small local development projects, has provided crucial medical equipment to enhance the care and treatment of burn victims, particularly women and girls affected by gender-based violence in Punjab.

Czech Aid support played a crucial part in procuring essential medical equipment for the project, including 8 patient monitors (cardiac monitors), 5 electrosurgical units, 7 pulse oximeters, and 2 ICU ventilators. These additions will significantly enhance the hospital's capacity to provide high-quality care for burn victims.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Steinhübel emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, "This initiative is not just about providing medical equipment; it is about making a long-term positive impact on the lives of burn violence survivors."

The event was attended by key stakeholders who have been instrumental in the success of this project. Among the distinguished guests were Ms. Julie Boileau, the coordinator of Médecins du Monde Pakistan; Dr. Yawar Sajjad, a leading figure in the Jinnah Burn Centre; Ms. Masarrat Misbah, CEO of Depilex and a key partner for Médecins du Monde; Professor Syed Asghar Naqi, Principal of Allama Iqbal Medical College; and most importantly, Professor Moazzam Nazeer Tarar, the founder and visionary behind the Jinnah Burn Centre.

This project highlights the Czech Embassy in Islamabad's commitment to international development, particularly in the healthcare sector, and sets a foundation for future collaborative efforts to support vulnerable communities.
