Czech film Landscape in Need, showing long-term and far-reaching consequences of mismanagement of the landscape, was presented at the Human Rights Reel Festival in Pakistan, held on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day in December.
The film, directed by Petr Jančárek and produced by the NGO People in Need, was screened on 4 December 2019 at Preston University Islamabad. In his introduction, University Chancellor Dr Abdul Basit stressed the fundamental human right to life and the global dimension of the impacts of climate change. In the discussion after the screening, Deputy Ambassador Antonín Hradilek responded to students' questions regarding nature protection, social conditions and the international activities of the Czech Republic, including the attitude to receiving refugees.
The Human Rights Film Festival was organized – for the fifth consecutive year – from 1 to 10 December 2019 by the EU Delegation and the UN in Pakistan.
