Empowering Young Women for Peace: OSCE's YW4P Initiative in Central Asia and Afghanistan

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has launched the Young Women for Peace (YW4P) Peace Initiative, a transformative capacity-building programme specifically designed for the empowerment of young women from Central Asian nations and Afghanistan. This initiative is dedicated to nurturing young women who are fervently advocating for positive change across crucial sectors including development, peacebuilding, mediation, and comprehensive security. It aims to equip these young women with the necessary tools, knowledge, and networks to amplify their impact in these areas.
Key Components of the Initiative:
Custom-designed capacity building and career coaching sessions to enhance professional and personal growth.
Peer-to-peer exchange programs focusing on pivotal issues such as gender equality, youth engagement, and the intricate dynamics of peace and security.
Exclusive opportunities for participants to engage with key decision-makers and influential figures actively involved in peace processes.
Comprehensive training covering a wide array of essential skills, such as mediation, negotiation, policy formulation, and project management.
Networking events designed to foster strong connections with peers, mentors, and professionals in the field.
Support for the conceptualization, development, and execution of cross-border projects with a strong emphasis on women’s empowerment.
Eligibility Criteria:
Age requirement: Applicants must be between 18 to 30 years old as of 1 April 2024.
Nationality: Open to citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, or Afghanistan, with a preference for those residing in Central Asia.
Experience: Applicants should have demonstrable experience in areas related to women's empowerment, youth engagement, peacebuilding, or similar fields.
Passion: A strong dedication towards advancing gender equality, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution.
Language: Proficiency in both oral and written English.
Commitment: A firm commitment to actively participate in the entire duration of the program, which includes attending monthly online workshops and in-person events.
