Czech company Laboratory Imaging supplied equipment for the examination of cartridge cases and bullets to the Pakistan Forensics Science Agency (PFSA) in Lahore. PFSA is the best forensic laboratory in Pakistan and is also the laboratory that sets standards for other provincial workplaces in the country. On April 13, 2026, Ambassador Ladislav Steinhübel visited the agency, where he met with Director General Dr. Muhammad Amjad, who confirmed maximum satisfaction with the supplied equipment and the overall cooperation with the Czech company. The example and experience of Laboratory Imaging can open doors for other Czech companies. In addition to the PFSA, the Ambassador visited the Punjab Agriculture, Food, and Drug Authority, which also offers opportunities for the supply of Czech equipment. Both laboratories are interested in establishing cooperation with their counterparts in the Czech Republic.
The Punjab Forensics Science Agency (PFSA) is the best forensic laboratory in Pakistan, which cooperates with other laboratories around the world, and which also sets standards for other provincial laboratories in the country. On April 13, 2026, Ambassador Ladislav Steinhübel visited the agency, where he met with Director General Dr. Muhammad Amjad, who confirmed maximum satisfaction with the supplied equipment and the overall cooperation with Laboratory Imaging. "The Czech Republic belongs to the world leaders in the production of specialized instruments, and not only for forensic laboratory equipment," the Ambassador stated.
Laboratory Imaging has a long-standing relationship with the PFSA. The first scanners were installed in 2015, with several expansions and upgrades following since. The initial setup consisted of five BalScan scanners and five stations for subsequent analysis and database management.
The BalScan system is used to examine cartridge cases and bullets, offering high-resolution 2D and 3D scanning. The equipment includes a database that allows for automated searching based on the similarity of specific marks and advanced filtering. Currently, two additional BalScan scanners are ready for delivery to expand the lab’s capacity. In the coming months, a significant software update and database upgrade will further enhance the system's capabilities.
A high-quality local partner is essential for success in Pakistan. Laboratory Imaging has worked with its local distributor, H. A. Shah & Sons, since 2014.
Michal Malý, representative of Laboratory Imaging s.r.o., noted: "We value our cooperation with H. A. Shah & Sons. They provide local support to the end-user, handle routine maintenance, and manage contractual matters with the PFSA. This shields us from administrative requirements, allowing us to focus on the technical side, where functionality and reliability are our main priorities. Thanks to this collaboration, we can resolve even complex issues remotely without needing a site visit, assisting with set up or the installation of new versions."
The excellent experience with Laboratory Imaging’s technology and after-sales service is paving the way for other Czech companies in the field. Similar laboratories are gradually opening or being modernized in provincial capitals, adopting the procedural and equipment standards set by the PFSA.
A second laboratory, the Punjab Agriculture, Food, and Drug Authority (PAFDA), was established recently and is drawing on the PFSA's experience. PAFDA is responsible for testing food and animal samples for compliance with local legislation. Located in the same location as the PFSA, PAFDA looks to the forensic agency for best practices and equipment references. All tenders for both laboratories must be published on the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority website.
Both laboratories are interested in establishing cooperation with their counterparts in the Czech Republic.
