Celebrating the Year of Czech Design in Hong Kong
Czechia made a vibrant return to the International Travel Expo (ITE) 2025 in Hong Kong (June 12-15), showcasing the rich tapestry of Czech design, innovation, and culture under the banner of the Consulate-led initiative: Year of Czech Design in Hong Kong 2025.
The Czech pavilion captivated visitors with a design inspired by renowned Czech illustrator Michal Bačák, whose whimsical depictions of Czech regions and traditions brought the space to life. A special collaboration with PRUSA Research and designer Josef Tomsej marked the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Venus of Věstonice. Visitors were treated to a unique souvenir, a 3D-printed cookie cutter shaped like the prehistoric figurine, created live on-site.
This year’s delegation featured a dynamic mix of Czech brands and institutions:
Presenters: Local Food Tour Prague, Preciosa/Crystal Valley, and CzechTourism (represented by Lukáš Pokorný) delivered engaging presentations tailored to the local professional audience.
Showcased by Catalogue: Prague.eu, Brno, Kutná Hora, South Moravian Region, Karlovy Vary Region, Warhorse Studios / Plaion, Enjoy Europe, Czech Design Map, Artiseme, Qubus, IAM, Wine Salon of the Czech Republic, and Garage 22.
Multimedia Highlights: Promotional videos at the booth featured Czechia’s cultural gems including signature events like Designblok or Signal Festival (both held regularly in Prague), and the world-wide successful game of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that is closely connected to Kutná Hora Region.
On the sidelines of the expo, a special networking event titled Evolution of Czech Food was held at the Taste Library (PMQ). Christoph Szabo of Local Food Tour Prague and the author of the book led the presentation, accompanied by a curated tasting menu from the “Flying Pig” restaurant. Czech beverages, such as Budvar beer, Becherovka, Prague gin Garage 22, Nestarec wines, and non-alcoholic Euforia, were also showcased, offering guests a flavorful glimpse into Czechia’s drink culture.
It was a privilege to welcome Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, to the Czech stand, alongside a wide array of professionals, media representatives, and curious visitors. Special thanks go to the organizers for inviting numerous key opinion leaders (KOLs), whose presence added a dynamic layer to the event.
Czechia’s participation at ITE 2025 was made possible through the Project of Economic Diplomacy (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), with financial support from the Ministry of Regional Development of Czechia.
