Success Story of Škoda in Finland – A Longstanding Excellent Reputation and Strong Market Position

Škoda Auto continues to enjoy a very good reputation and solid position in Finland’s competitive automotive market, which is undergoing rapid electrification. Škoda cars consistently rank among the top 3 best-selling brands in Finland. Customers can choose from 12 available Škoda models, with nearly half of the newly sold Škodas being fully electric.

Škoda Auto has been performing remarkably well in the Finnish market for a long time and according to recent statistical data, we can affirm that the brand's strong popularity in the country keeps up also with the new trends in the automotive industry. This is clear evidence that the Finnish customers continue to trust the quality of Škoda cars, viewing the brand as a reliable and proven choice that can withstand harsh climate conditions while adapting to the rise of electric mobility. Since 2012, Škoda has consistently ranked among the Top 3 most desired brands in Finland. Its position on the local market is comparable to Volvo and Volkswagen, mostly ranking close to them in market share charts. At the top of the popularity rankings in Finland is Toyota, followed by Volkswagen and Škoda. In 2024, Škoda sold a total of 7,381 vehicles in Finland, accounting for 10,2 % of all passenger cars sold in the country that year. Even in the first ten months of 2025, Škoda maintained its strong market position, reaching a 9,7 % market share and comfortably holding onto third place ahead of Volvo.

The Finnish automotive market is undergoing a rapid electric revolution, a process that is far from finished. The demand for electric cars here is among the fastest-growing in the world. In 2024, 30 % of all new cars sold in Finland were fully electric and when plug-in hybrids are added to this, the share of electric car models was around 50%. So far in 2025, the share of new fully electric cars has increased to 36 %. Škoda has successfully adapted to this trend and currently offers three fully electric models for the Finnish market – Elroq, Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé – along with three hybrid models: Kodiaq, Superb and Superb Combi. Additionally, six other models are available with combustion engines, including Fabia, Scala, Kamiq, Octavia, Octavia Combi and Karoq. This broad offering allows Škoda to meet a wide range of customer needs, from small cars primarily suited for urban driving to large seven-seater SUVs and spacious station wagons. Of all new Škoda cars sold in Finland so far in 2025, almost half were fully electric. The shift towards electric mobility is becoming more and more evident each year – back in 2024, electric cars made up "only" 23 % of all new Škodas sold in Finland.

"The Enyaq and Elroq electric cars have been very well received by Finnish customers and currently represent our most important models. So far in 2025, Enyaq is the second most popular model of all newly sold electric cars in Finland and Elroq ranks fourth. In 2026 we will launch the new Škoda Epiq, an attractive all-electric crossover which enters smaller segment than Elroq. In 2026, Škoda will also stage the world premiere of its flagship electric SUV – a model for up to seven passengers, based on the Vision 7S concept," says Maija Koskela, CEO of Helkama-Auto, the exclusive importer of Škoda cars in Finland. The company has been importing Škodas to Finland continuously since 1947, making it the longest-standing import partner of Škoda worldwide.
