On 16 May 2013 exhibition of paintings by Marjatta Hanhijoki was opened at the Czech Embassy in Helsinki within the Embassy Gallery project.
Marjatta Hanhijoki, born in 1948 in Porvoo, is a Finnish academic painter and graphic artist. Her works consist mainly of aquarelle paintings, etchings and graphics using polymer gravure method. The graphic works are naturalistic pictures of everyday atmosphere. M. Hanhijoki studied at the Art and Design School and continued her studies at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. She also studied making handmade paper in Japan. She was teaching at the University of Arts and Design and at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. She was awarded several prizes for her art works. In 2009 she had an exhibition of pictures in the Gallery of Modern Art in Most, the Czech Republic.
