On October 22, 2025, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Helsinki hosted the opening of an exhibition of works by prominent Czech artists Monika Immrová and Jindřich Zeithamml, which was part of the celebrations of the Czechoslovak Independence Day on October 28. Curated by Petr Řehoř, this exhibition is part of the long-term cultural initiative Embassy Gallery, which has been regularly bringing contemporary Czech art to Helsinki since its inception in 2011.
Monika Immrová, known for her work exploring space, depth, and freedom of form, presented her graphic works from 2017, which are full of personal reflections on her relationship to the surrounding world and to forms that are often expressed in her work through sculpture and spatial installations. In her work, Immrová emphasizes the creation of free space in which a person can feel like part of the landscape without getting lost in it. Her sculptures and graphic works not only attract attention but also invite deeper reflection on how we move in space and how we shape it.
Jindřich Zeithamml, one of the most important Czech sculptors of his generation, deals in his work with the transition between the circle and the square, between straight and curved forms, which clearly resonates in his graphic works from 2022, which were part of the exhibition. His creative process, shaped by many years of experience and study at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, focuses on the relationships between internal and external spatial dimensions, which makes his works not only aesthetically impressive but also intellectually stimulating.
At the opening, visitors had the opportunity to view not only the artists' graphic works, but also to learn about their artistic work through a presentation.
We would like to thank the artists Monika Immrová and Jindřich Zeithamml, the curator Petr Řehoř and everyone who attended the event for a pleasant evening that contributed to deepening the cultural dialogue between Czechia and Finland.
The exhibition will be open by prior arrangement during the Embassy's working hours until January 31, 2026.
The exhibition is supported by VAFO Group, a recognized leader in the market for premium and super-premium pet food.
