We warmly invite you to a special event with acclaimed Czech author Kateřina Tučková, whose celebrated novel Žítkovské bohyně was published for the first time in Finnish earlier this year under the title Viimeiset jumalattaret, translated by Susanna Räty.
Kateřina Tučková will appear at the Helsinki Book Fair on Friday, 24th of October 2025, from 16:30 to 17:00 on the Suomenlinna Stage. The programme will be held in English. After the event, she will be available for discussion and book signing at the Kairaamo stand.
Kateřina Tučková is one of the most important contemporary Czech writers, known especially for her historical novels set in the 20th century. Tučková's novels focus on the previously forgotten and silenced history and fates of women in 20th-century Czechoslovakia. In her novels, she has dealt with topics such as the fate of Czech Germans after the end of World War II, the persecution of healers, and the treatment of Catholic nuns during the communist era. Her books have received widespread international attention and won numerous awards. Tučková's first Finnish translation, Viimeiset jumalattaret was published in July 2025 by Kairaamo, a publisher of Czech literature in Finland.
Tučková’s visit is supported by CzechLit – the Czech Literary Centre. You can find a link to the event here.
We look forward to seeing you there!
