On March 13, 2024, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which also supervises the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, addressed the judgment in the case of D.H. and others against the Czech Republic. The judgement concerns equal access to education.
The Deputy Minister of Education Jiří Nantl, who represented the Czech Republic, introduced the measures of recently submitted Action Plan addressing the issue.
One of the proposed measures is the adaptation of the regional education financing system so that it reflects schools with increased number of pupils coming from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. It also aims to set up methodological, staff and financial support for schools while taking into account the proportion of socially disadvantaged pupils.
