We are delighted to announce that West Australian Opera will perform Dvořák's Rusalka in Czech at His Majesty’s Theatre in Perth on 18th, 20th, 23rd, 25th, and 27th July.
West Australian Opera will present one of Antonín Dvořák's most beautiful operas, Rusalka, in Czech at the prestigious His Majesty’s Theatre in Perth. Performances will take place on 18th, 20th, 23rd, 25th, and 27th July, starting at 7:30 pm.
The Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Jana Tyrer, met with representatives of the theatre during her official visit to Western Australia in June and agreed on future cultural cooperation for the coming year. We are pleased to promote Czech culture and look forward to more projects.
Rusalka, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Little Mermaid," tells the story of a water nymph who longs for the love of a prince and sacrifices her voice to become human. However, this dream turns into a curse when she discovers the true cost of her decision.
The opera Rusalka blends romantic melodies with Czech folk music and is especially known for the beautiful aria "Song to the Moon." This opera is one of the most enchanting fairy tale operatic works, captivating audiences with its beauty and depth.
