Visa and Consular Department Basic Information


 

All consular and visa visits must be requested and confirmed by email.  This measure also applies to family members of EU citizens applying for Schengen visas. No visitor without an appointment will be allowed entry into the Visa and Consular Department.
 

Visa applications (Schengen visa, long term visa/stays) are arranged according to prior appointment.

Superlegalizations and other consular related issues are arranged according the previous booking usually on Sundays. Please see the link on further information.

 

WORKING LANGUAGES
In accordance with § 169 of the Act no. 326/1999 Sb., about the stay of foreigners in the territory of the Czech Republic, the working languages of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo are Czech, English and Arabic. Submitted documents are accepted in Czech language only or in officially translated form.

Passport and refusal letters collections for all types of visas

From Sunday to Thursday between 14:00 - 15:00.

Visa appeals may be submitted only in person Sunday to Thursday between 14:00 - 15:00. More information on how to submit an appeal on the following link.

Exceptionally, a passport can be collected by an authorized person or via DHL with a Power of Attorney with a verified signature - with no responsibility for eventual loss/damage on the Embassy side.

Consular Territorial Competence:

  • According to the Ministerial Decree of the Territorial Competence of the Czech Embassies, the Czech Embassy in Cairo shall examine and decide applications of the following Member States in whose jurisdiction the applicant legally resides, i.e: Egypt, Eritrea, Sudan, Yemen and the Gaza Strip. Applications are submitted in person only.
     
  • With the conflict in Sudan the representation of the Embassy in of Switzerland regarding Sudanese schengen visa applicants has been terminated.
    All applicants from Sudan shall lodge their visa applications at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo only.
     
  • Palestinian applicants from the Gaza strip may lodge their visa applications at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo.

  • October 28 - Establishment of  independent Czechoslovakia

  • December 25 - Christmas Day
