After a warm welcome and initial discussion at the NWRC’s headquarters, the Czech delegation continued to the NWRC’s complex in Qanatir Al-Khairiya north of Cairo to visit four different institutes: Hydraulics Research Institute where natural models of water structures are created, Institute for Climate Change Research and Effects on the Environment which monitors and analyzes climate using numerical models, Drainage Research Institute and also central laboratories for environmental monitoring.

Given the Egypt’s geography as well as external factors, water scarcity is a striking issue for the country, and sustainable water management is therefore essential. The Czech Ambassador praised the NWRC for all the work it has been doing in this regard and assured the NWRC’s representatives that Czechia is ready to contribute to face all the challenges by providing unique solutions. On top of that, the Ambassador stressed the long expertise of Czechia in the water and wastewater management in general.

In the end, both parties agreed to start scientific cooperation between the NWRC and the T.G. Masaryk Water Research Institute of Czechia, provided that online meetings will be held between the respective experts.
