The project called "Czech heroines" was originally created in the Czech Republic in 2020 under the auspices of the Czech Centers. It brings illustrated portraits of important women, seen through the eyes of the youngest generation of illustrators. The project travels successfully all over the world, this year it will also be shown in Egypt for the first time, in the form of a traveling exhibition and a rich accompanying program.

 

The traveling exhibition "Czech and Egyptian Heroines" depicts portraits of 24 important Czech and Egyptian women from various fields living mainly in the 20th and 21st centuries. The portraits were created by students of art faculties. The exhibition was created with the cooperation of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo, Czech Centers, the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia, the Faculty of Fine Arts of Helwan University, and the PSSA AUC association. Other partners include AIWFF, UN Women Egypt or the Czech company Dermacol.

 

The exhibition opening will take place on the 6th March 2023 at 12:30 in the Khufu Hall, Hotel Tolip Aswan, as part of the Aswan International Women Film Festival program. The exhibition will be opened by H.E. Mr. Ivan Jukl, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Egypt.

 

After the opening of the traveling exhibition, the portraits will move to the premises of the Misr Public Library in Luxor, then to other Egyptian cities, with a final stop in Cairo in the autumn.
