Czech Search and Rescue Team and Humanitarian Aid for Beirut

Following the enormous blast on August 4, which hit Beirut port and destroyed substantial part of the city of Beirut, the Czech Republic is sending humanitarian aid to Lebanon on Wednesday.

The Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček decided to release financial assistance for Lebanon of approximately 400 000 USD.
In total 36 search and rescue experts from Urban Search and Rescue Team including 5 trained dogs  arrived to Beirut on August 5 in the evening to be deployed immediately in the most damaged parts of Beirut and to help with rescue operations on the ground. Among the team members were technicians, doctor, IT experts and civil engineer/static. Over the weekend the team helped to local inhabitants of Beirut with assesment of damged buildings.

On Tuesday morning, August 11, two military planes arrived to Lebanon from Prague, delivering the humanitarian aid in form of medical supplies and special ICU beds for hospitals in Beirut, damaged by last week blast in the port and transported the Rescue and Search Team back to Prague.
