Newly Opened Pavilion in Shenyang Showcases Czech Products

On January 16, 2019 the 16 Central and Eastern European Countries Pavilion was officially opened in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. The premises of the pavilion will serve to display products from those countries including the Czech Republic and it will also help to facilitate projects in the areas of culture, education, tourism or investment.

The premises devoted to 16 European countries showcase traditional industries including hundreds of products already available on the Chinese market. In the case of the Czech Republic, great attention is given to crystal products, renowned among Chinese consumers. The exposition also introduces the rich industrial tradition of the Czech Republic, with some of its fruits known to Chinese people in their everyday life, such as the Škoda cars. Czech beer and dairy are represented among the food products. Particular attention is paid to Czech pianos, already successfully represented in China by the Petrof brand.

Klára Jurčová, CDA a.i. and economic diplomat Dalibor Jenne, representatives of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing, attended the opening ceremony. This year, the Embassy will focus its activities on the Dongbei region that includes the Liaoning province. The region will be the main target of the activities of the Czech Embassy in 2019 under the annual series of events known as Czech Days. This year’s events will have a chance to build on a legacy of rich industrial cooperation, as already in the second half of the 20th century a joint Sino-Czechoslovak Engineering Plant was established in Shenyang city, leaving a significant mark on the development of local industry.

In January 2019, a new Czech visa centre was opened in Shenyang, which will help boost the numbers of tourists coming from the region to the Czech Republic. This year’s main events in the Liaoning province will include a significant Czech participation at the Dalian Beer Festival, taking place in late July and early August 2019. In June, the city will also host the Working Conference of Regional Leaders in the 16 + 1 format, where the participation of regional delegations from the Czech Republic is also expected.

The Economic Section of the Embassy is ready to support Czech companies in their interest to present their products at the newly opened Pavilion or during other events. In case of interest, please contact us at commerce_beijing@mzv.cz.
