Czech companies from the area of aviation are becoming more and more successful in China. The most recent example is Eldis Pardubice winning a tender in October 2018, to deliver 13 radars for several airports across China. Due to its significance, the success of the project is one of the largest achievements of Czech aviation in China. Following the success in the tender, Eldis Pardubice plans to work with its Chinese partners in the long-term, which could result in the joint production of radars in China. Activities of Eldis Pardubice were also personally supported by the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, during his recent visit to China.
Eldis Pardubice was successful in the tender among international competition. Primary or secondary air traffic control radars from the Pardubice company will be equipped, for example, in northeast China Changchun and Qingdao, then in the south in the cities of Changsha and Guilin and also in the Midwest in Chengdu and Kunming. In total, Eldis Pardubice will deliver 13 radars to China. The project will be completed within two years. Besides the supply of the equipment, the company will also train the operators and ensure other services.
The success in the tender was preceded by the long-term involvement of Eldis Pardubice in the Chinese market. In 2010, Eldis launched the demanding process of certification of surveillance radars for China, successfully completed in 2016. The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing regularly supported Eldis in meetings with representatives of the Chinese Civil Aviation Authority and, in particular, with the Air Traffic Management Bureau (ATMB). As part of an economic diplomacy project called "A-Z Solutions for Chinese Aviation," the Chinese leadership of ATMB visited Eldis Pardubice in 2017.
The Czech President Milos Zeman has also mentioned the success and quality of Eldis Pardubice in a recent visit to China at a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. In the presence of the Czech President, Miloš Zeman, the parent company of Eldis Pardubice, CSG Aerospace, signed an agreement with the Chinese partner China Aerospace Times Corporation (China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation) on further cooperation that could result in the joint production of radars in China.
