Czech Republic and China agree to expand cooperation on pilot training

Czech private flight school F AIR partnered with the Czech Technical University to design a new project aimed at Chinese pilot training in the Czech Republic. The project is also supported by two Chinese partners: Shandong Jiatong University and the second largest pilot training facility in China - Jiutian International Flight Academy (JFTA). In 2016, F AIR has already launched pilot training program for Sichuan Airlines. The newly proposed project will help Czech Republic to become one of the European centres for Chinese aviation education and training.

On April 9, both flight schools and universities signed a multilateral agreement to enhance further cooperation in pilot training. The first part of the agreement focuses on Chinese pilots who are currently enrolled in the training course with F AIR. The second part includes a full-course study at the Czech Technical University followed by practical training in F AIR aircrafts. Finally, the last section of the agreement proposes a foundation of a new professional pilot faculty in Qingdao, China.

Courses at the Czech Technical University will be available for the 2018/2019 fall intake. Shortly after the enrolment, students will start the practical part of their training in Benesov, F AIR home base airport. However, with expected increase in demand for its services, F AIR is planning to establish a new branch in Karlovy Vary.

F AIR gained the Chinese certification in October 2016. Since then the Czech pilot school established close partnership with Sichuan Airlines. In summer of 2018, F AIR is expected to be granted a certification that will allow the Czech flight school to make long-term plans and deepen the cooperation with other Chinese airlines. The collaboration between F AIR and the Czech Technical University has helped to develop an effective way of combining ground theory training with practical flight training.

Civil aviation in China is expanding rapidly. Therefore, new airports with total passenger throughput around 100 million passengers are being built every year. For instance, the second international airport in Beijing will start test operation in 2019. China's aviation boom will require thousands of well-trained pilots to meet the growing demand for air transport around the world. Czech Republic, thanks to involvement of F AIR and the Czech Technical University, is playing an important role in development of Chinese civil aviation.
