The ŠKODA VisionS made its China preview at ŠKODA Day in Beijing

On 26 April 2016 the Embassy of the Czech Republic hosted a very special event promoting one of the most famous Czech brands – ŠKODA. The carmaker for the first time previewed to the wide Chinese public the new concept car VisionS and its full model range, which will also be on display at the Beijing Motor Show Auto China 2016, held from 25 April to 4 May 2016. The ŠKODA Day has become a regular media event for journalists to learn about the brand and its products as well as to experience the tradition and culture of ŠKODA’s home country the Czech Republic.

The participants, who were mainly automobile experts from different Chinese media, had the first and unique opportunity in the Chinese market to see the glimpse of the new large ŠKODA SUV model with future plug-in-hybrid technology and learn about the ŠKODA brand growth strategy as well as recent model developments. As China is ŠKODA's most important market, the carmaker wants to concentrate on sport utility vehicles and cars powered by new energies.

After the welcoming speeches of Mr. Bedřich Kopecký, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in China and Mr. Andreas Hafemann, President of ŠKODA China, Mr. Jozef Kabaň, Head of ŠKODA Design held a presentation about the exhibited SUV model with a statement that: “The lines of the ŠKODA VisionS have evidently been inspired by the tradition of Bohemian crystal glass art and a touch of cubism: all sections are precise, sharp and clean-cut.”

ŠKODA is further strengthening its presence in China, based on a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Volkswagen, SAIC and ŠKODA in March. The agreement covers 5-year investment plan amounting CNY 15 billion for expansion of ŠKODA’s model range. In the coming years, ŠKODA will rapidly expand its offering to include forward-looking vehicle concepts and modern technology, with a target to double its deliveries in China within the next years.
