On 23rd September 2015 Hainan Airlines began to operate the first direct flight between the capitals of the Czech Republic and China.
An official ceremony launching the inaugural direct flight took place at the Beijing Capital International Airport. Ambassador of the Czech Republic in China Mr. Libor Secka, CEO of Hainan Airlines Xie Haoming and General Manager of Beijing Capital International Airport Meng Xianwei attended the event and delivered speeches. Ambassador Secka pointed out that the direct flight “is our real first common contribution to the Belt and Road Initiative” and that “the Czech Republic promotes itself as a land of stories and opening a direct flight is like writing a first chapter of a very special, even romantic, story that is bound to have a happy ending.”
The direct flight between Prague and Beijing will lead to more intensive tourism, business, education and other exchanges between the Czech Republic and China. Moreover it symbolically brings the two countries closer together and builds a bridge that will boost mutual cooperation. In less than 11 hours the travelers will complete their comfortable journey and find themselves in the other country to explore the beautiful sights, visit friends, conduct business or learn more about the other country´s culture.
