Screening of "Porcelain War" at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing

On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the start of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the Embassy of the Czech Republic, together with the Embassy of the United Kingdom and with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine, organized a joint screening of the Ukrainian documentary film Porcelain War. The film presents the fates of Ukrainian artists, for whom art is a refuge in which they seek strength, hope and continuity of their own identity
This event has been part of a wider European initiative organized by the EU Delegation in Beijing and the embassy of Czech Republic and United Kingdom joined many other European embassies in the screening of this movie. The opening remarks were given by representatives of the Czech, British and Ukrainian embassies, who in their speeches recalled the continuing impacts of the war on Ukraine and emphasized the importance of international solidarity and support for Ukrainian society.
The 2024 film Porcelain War, directed by Brendan Bellomo and Slava Leontyev, follows the lives of Ukrainian artists Slava Leontyev, Anya Stasenko, and Andrey Stefanov amid an ongoing war. The film captures not only the everyday reality of a country hit by Russian aggression, but also the power of art as a means of resistance and the preservation of human dignity. The documentary premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize in the American Documentary category, and was subsequently nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.
