The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing co-organised a screening of the documentary movie Eastern Front, which took place in the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Finland.
At the beginning of the event, the Ambassador of Finland H.E. Mikko Kinnunen, the Secretary of the Embassy of the Czech Republic Michaela Karasová and the Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine Zhanna Leshchynska delivered speeches. They recalled that for three years Ukraine has been facing a full-scale Russian invasion and for over ten years a war in the eastern part of the country and they expressed their support for Ukraine.
The movie shows footage that Yevhen Titarenko, as a member of the volunteer medical battalion, shoots directly on the frontline, but also in other parts of Ukraine while talking to friends and family. Thus, we can see the fight for survival at the front and also how Ukrainians reflect on the war.
After the screening, we were joined by the filmmakers Yevhen Titarenko and Natalia Khazan via video chat. The film prompted a lively discussion and the filmmakers answered numerous questions from the audience.
The event was part of the Peace. Security. Future. film festival, in which the Embassy of Ukraine, in cooperation with embassies of other European countries, is screening movies about Ukraine and the Russian invasion.
