Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation Between the Czech Republic and Thailand, and Accompanying Business Delegation

The Second Session of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation (JEC) between the Czech Republic and the Kingdom of Thailand took place in Bangkok and was accompanied by a program for a Czech Business Delegation from August 21 to August 24.

JEC Sessions took place on August 21 and 23 and were co-hosted by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr. Vladimír Bärtl, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul. It was a second session of the Commission following its first session which took place in Prague back in 2013.

Deputy Minister V. Bärtl was accompanied by a business delegation organized by the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic headed by its President, Mr. Jaroslav Hanák. The delegation was joined by several important Czech companies, namely Linet Group, PS Profi, Zlin Aircraft, Svitap J.H.J, EGAP, and a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Mr. Milan Šarapatka.

The Czech delegation was discussing aspects of economic and trade cooperation between Thailand and the Czech Republic during its stay in Bangkok. A Protocol on the Second Session of the Joint Economic Commission on Economic Cooperation was signed during the concluding ceremony. Deputy Minister V. Bärtl has also held talks with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Mrs. Wiboonlasana Ruamraksa.

During their four-day stay in Bangkok, members of the official and business delegations met public and private officials and representatives from the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Trade, the Board of Investment, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, and the Eastern Economic Corridor Office. The business delegation also took part in the final part of the Join Commission on Economic Cooperation and the ceremonial signing of the Protocol on its proceedings. The business delegation also visited the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate near Bangkok. including investment opportunities presentation, organized jointly by the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, and FTI.

The whole program was jointly prepared by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bangkok (including the CzechTrade Promotion Office), the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic. On the Thai side, preparations were undertaken, among others, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Royal Thai Embassy in Prague.
