Marek Notný Trio at the Baku International Jazz Festival

From October 17 to October 27, 2024, Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, hosted International Jazz Festival, which has been part of the „Global Jazz Day Association“ supported by UNESCO. Czech jazz composer and pianist Mr. Marek Novotný was a guest and performer at the festival, along with singer and composer Ms. Allison Wheeler and drummer Mr. Petr Nohavica.
The Baku Jazz Festival brings together bands from all over the world. This year musicians from Norway, Italy, Poland, USA, Sweden, Austria, Turkey, Germany, Brazil, Romania, Moldova, France, Israel and last but not least a number of excellent jazz musicians from the host country Azerbaijan were present. The founder and artistic director of the festival is well-known Azerbaijani jazz saxophonist and composer Rain Sultanov.
Allison Wheeler sang in Marek Novotny's trio and Petr Nohavica accompanied on drums. Among the songs presented were "Pavučina dní", "Raindrops", "Seaside", Alea, "Night Train" and others. As the organisers put it in the festival brochure - "Marek is a great example of Czech jazz performers".
