On 9 May 2012, on the occasion of the Victory Day, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan Radek Matula on behalf of the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic decorated Mr. Novruz Makhmudov, the World War II Veteran from Azerbaijan and the participant of the struggles for liberalization of Czechoslovakia as a soldier of the 371^st Artillery Regiment of the former Soviet Army, with commemorative medal of the Czech Minister of Defence.

Czech Defence Attaché in Azerbaijan Col. Štěpán Mašek and acting secretary of the Baku War Veterans’ Council Col. (Ret.) Azad Asadov took part in the ceremony.
