Ambassador Jan Šnaidauf visits the National Museum of Iraq

Iraq is known in the world as the "cradle of civilizations". There are many valuable archaeological sites in Iraq, documenting the history of mankind, some dating back to 6000 BC. Czech Ambassador visited the Iraqi Museum and had the opportunity to learn about the rich history of Iraq. The museum has prepared a detailed tour for him, throughout all exhibition halls of its main building in Baghdad.

The museum was founded in 1926. Thanks to the archaeological wealth of Mesopotamia, the collections of the Iraqi Museum are among the most important in the world. They include important items, some dating back even more than five thousand years BC. There are more than half a million pieces of unique historical items in this museum; either on display in 28 galleries, or in the collections of this museum.
