The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, Nikos Kotzias payed an official visit to the Czech Republic on May 16-17, 2017. This was the first visit of the head of the Greek diplomacy since 2010. Minister Kotzias negotiated with his counterpart, Lubomír Zaorálek, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and he was also received by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka and the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Milan Štěch. The visit represented an opportunity to strengthen political and economic relations between the two countries and exchange views on bilateral, European and international issues.
According to Minister Zaorálek, the Czech-Greek relations are in good shape and all the issues may be solved within their framework. "We are interested in further strengthening the business cooperation," said the Czech Foreign Minister commenting the successful economic cooperation, especially in industry. He added that Greece is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Czech tourists. "I am glad that the number of Czechs visiting Greece is rising, there were about half a million of them in 2016."
The discussions besides that addressed current European issues, specifically the migration and the future of a common Europe.
