Czech Assistance for fire-stricken Aigio

Czech tractor ZETOR was donated to the Municipality of Aigio, Achaea

on 18 January 2008

On 18 ^th January 2008 a tractor ZETOR PROXIMA 84.41.1., the joint donation of the Municipality of Prague 5, the Czech tractor producer ZETOR and DEMETR S.A, the representation of ZETOR in Greece , was handed over to the representatives of the Municipality of Aigio , Achaea .

The Municipality of Aigio belongs among those municipalities struck by devastating wildfires during the summer of 2007. With a view to help the Municipality and its citizens in their efforts to prevent possible mud slides and to assist in the forestation works, the tractor ZETOR PROXIMA was granted by the above mentioned Czech donors in co-operation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Greece .

The ceremony of the handover and signing of the relevant agreement took place in the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Aigio and was attended among others by the delegation of the Municipality of Prague 5 headed by the Mayor of Prague 5 Mr. Milan Jancik, by the representatives of the Municipality of Aigio headed by the Mayor of Aigio Mr. Apostolos Karafotias, by M.P. and president of the Friendship Group between the Hellenic Republic and the Czech Republic of the Hellenic Parliament Mr. Panagiotis Adraktas, by M.P. and secretary of the Group Mr. Nikolaos Papadimatos, by mayors of the villages of the area hit by the fire, by Mr. Demetrius Gorgias, president of the company DEMETER S.A., by the representatives of Achaea region of and by Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Greece H.E. Hana Mottlova.

The Mayor of Prague 5 and the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Greece have received the plaque of honor of the Prefect of Achaea Mr. Dimitris Katsikopoulos which was handed over by Mr. Dimitris Filippatos, President of the Development Enterprise of Achaia Prefecture .
