On 17th November 2025, leading Czech violinist prof. Jaroslav Svěcený and accordionist Ms. Markéta Laštovičková performed as a duo for students of Ankara State Conservatory in Hacettepe, presenting tango and other Latin melodies and rhythms.
The performance was initiated by Ambassador Petr Štěpánek who also commemorated the International Students´ Day and the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy, recalling to the Conservatory students and teachers the events in Prague in 1939 and 1989 that gave birth to these memorial days.
Prof. Svěcený on that day also gave masterclasses to nine advanced students of violin/doublebass play at Ankara State Conservatory, while Ms. Laštovičková gave a lecture to interested students about an accordion (as a less-wide known musical instrument in Türkiye) and gave their own masterclass to two accordion players studying at the Conservatory.
