The screening of the film ‘’Citizen Havel’’ took place on December, 13, at the Faculty of International Relations at the Middle East Technical University.  Before the screening itself, Professor H. Bağcı, which had an opportunity to meet with  Václav Havel personally, has performed. During  his speech he mentioned Havel’s involvement in the political field and stressed his literary activity. Professor Bağcı also pinpointed  Havel as a ‘’great and significant figure of the Europe’’, which can be taken as an example for a young generation. In this context, professor also pointed out to some cultural values of the Czech Republic.

Ambassador Pavel  Kafka shortly described Václav Havel’s career, his political involvement and human dimension.

Student audience (c. 120 students) appreciated the viewed film with an applause. The film transparently exposed  Havel’s life behind the scenes, such as his behavior as a stateman and his human dimension. It seemed, that mostly young viewers appreciated the frankness that was presented through the personal life of the stateman, which knew how to have fun and at the same time solve severe problems. However, Havel tried to keep up the humanity and consistency according to his belief -‘’Truth and love must prevail over lies and hatred’’ in any situation.
