Turkey is geographically and climatically very diverse and frequently faces threats related to natural and other emergency situations. The most significant risks include earthquakes, floods, landslides, forest fires, droughts, or combinations of the above in connection with the globally increasing occurrence of extreme weather events.

The Embassy in Ankara, in cooperation with the Consulate General in Istanbul, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, and with major support from EGO Zlín, spol. s r.o., organized a project to support economic diplomacy in the form of an incoming mission of representatives of Turkish fire brigades and municipalities. During their stay, guests from five provinces (Gaziantep, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Mersin, and Niğde) became acquainted with Czech solutions in the field of civil and fire protection.

At the premises of EGO Zlín, in addition to the host company itself, the following companies also presented: Gumárny Zubří, a.s., ČERVINKA–CZECH REPUBLIC s.r.o., SUNFIBRE s.r.o., and BOSPHOREX s.r.o. After the individual presentations, members of the Turkish mission had the opportunity to examine the exhibited products of Czech companies on site and observe practical demonstrations of their use. Subsequent meetings enabled participants to establish personal contacts and engage in preliminary consultations regarding potential business cooperation.

The program also included a visit to the Population Protection Institute in Lázně Bohdaneč. Through lectures and a tour of the facility, participants gained detailed information about the functioning of the Czech integrated rescue system, which they can utilize in their home country.

The presentations of Czech solutions in civil and fire protection, combined with the exchange of experience, effectively supported the efforts of Czech companies to secure specific contracts in the highly promising Turkish market. Turkish partners appreciated the level of preparedness of the Czech Republic in handling emergency situations and expressed strong interest in implementing Czech products, technologies, and methodologies into the preparedness system of Turkish units dealing with emergencies. For example, there is an opportunity to gradually equip Turkish training and education centers with high value-added Czech products. In this context, a follow-up presentation of Czech companies directly in Turkey may take place, to which the delegation participants extended an invitation.
