Lectures at Jordan Institute of Diplomacy

(This article expired 31.01.2017 / 01:00.)

The fall of the Iron Curtain in Europe in 1989 with focus on Czechoslovak "Velvet Revolution“ and Czech Post-Cold War Security Diplomacy and Path to NATO Membership were the topics of two lectures delivered by the NATO Contact Point Embassy (CPE) Representative, Mr. Karel Tesař, at Jordan Institute of Diplomacy (2nd and 4th February).

After their successful visit to Prague, organised by the CPE in November last year, the diplomatic attachés of Jordan Institute of Diplomacy expressed keen interest in learning more on the transformation of the political system in the Czech Republic in 1990s and processes leading to NATO membership. Following the account of historical events in 1989, young Jordanian diplomats learned how Czechoslovak and Czech Security Policy evolved in the 1990s, from early enthusiasm for pan-European structures to later focus on gaining early accession to NATO in 1999.
