VISAS

Visa is an authorization which allows a foreigner to enter and temporarily stay on the territory of the Czech Republic / Schengen Area under conditions specified within.

 

Visa is issued into a passport (travel document) of a foreigner in a form of a visa sticker. Every applicant, including a child, is issued an individual visa sticker. This applies even if the child does not have own passport and is inscribed in the parent´s passport – two visa stickers are issued into the passport in such a case.

Types of Visas

  • Schengen (short-stay) visas
    • are issued for a stay in the Czech Republic / Schengen Area for up to 90 days (including "A" type of airport visas)
    • applications can be submitted directly at the embassy or via VFS Global Visa Application Centers in Dubai or Abu Dhabi

  • Long-stay visas
    • are issued for stays in the Czech Republic over 90 days. Special long-stay visas are issued for the collection of a temporary/permanent residence permit in the Czech territory. Long-stay visa entitles its holder to visit other Schengen countries for maximum of 90 days within every 180-day period,
    • applications must be submitted in person at the embassy.

For details on visa fees consult the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Kindly note that at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Abu Dhabi, the visa fees are collected in DHS in cash only, depending on the monthly average exchange rate.
