Did U Know? - The system of trail markings

The Czech Tourist Club is one of the oldest Czech organisations, having been established during the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1888.

A year later the oldest preserved hiking trail between Beroun and Karlštejn was created. Today, the trail is more than 205 km long and is called the Vojta Náprstek Trail after the founder of the Czech Tourist Club. However, the first trail was the now defunct trail to the St John's Rapids.

The system of trail markings created by the Czech Tourist Club is regarded as among the best and most advanced in the world, which is why it has been adopted by some neighbouring countries. The Czech Republic has the densest network of trails in the EU.
