Award ceremony of the International Children's Art Exhibition Lidice

On 4 April 2024, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Yerevan organized a ceremony to present honorary mentions and medals to the participants of the 51st International Children's Art Exhibition Lidice. The ceremony took place at the Armenian Genocide Museum in the Tsitsernakaberd Complex in Yerevan and was attended by the awarded children, their parents and teachers.

The 51st International Children's Art Exhibition Lidice, themed "Dance", involved 146 talented children in Armenia, who submitted 134 pictures and 12 films to the competition. Ten young artists from Yerevan, Dilijan and Gyumri received honorable mentions for their participation in the competition from the hands of the Czech Ambassador to Armenia, Mr. Petr Piruncik. Nare Tadevosyan from Yerevan received a medal and the Art School from Dilijan also received a medal for its collection of paintings and drawings.

The awarding of the participants was organized in cooperation with the Armenian Genocide Museum. The museum is dedicated to the memory of the 1.5 million Armenians who perished during the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire and surrounding regions between 1915 and 1923. The entire Tsitsernakaberd complex serves as a place of remembrance for the innocent victims of this massacre and is also an important research center on the Armenian Genocide. The Museum also cooperates with the Lidice Memorial, with which it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding since 2012.

During the ceremony, the participants were introduced to the history of the museum complex in Tsitsernakaberd by the museum director Edita Gzoyan, as well as to the history of Lidice and the international art competition, which was presented by the Czech Ambassador Petr Pirunčík. After the presentation of awards and small gifts, the Armenian children had the opportunity to talk with real Armenian painters who were invited to the event by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Yerevan - Armine Tumanyan, Armen Vahramyan, Avetis Khacahtryan and Karen Movsisyan.
