Statement of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the General Elections in Myanmar

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic appreciates the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections in Myanmar, in particular the fact that both the people responsible for the preparation and holding of the elections and the voters managed the polls so admirably in quite challenging conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic steadily follows the situation in Myanmar and notes that the elections were successfully held under the civilian government, that is in place after more than five decades. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes with great satisfaction that the country will be able to continue its democratic transition and socio-economic development, and this direction will also be supported by further cooperation between the Czech Republic and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
