Orange the World 2025

(This article expired 11.12.2025.)

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Yangon joins the Orange the World Campaign – 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This global campaign, organized by UN Women, begins on November 25 to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

This year, the campaign is framed by the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, with a thematic focus on combating digital violence against women and girls.

According to global UN Women surveys, nearly one in three women over the age of 15 has experienced physical or sexual violence at least once in her lifetime. Online violence is increasingly prevalent, particularly affecting women active in public life. Violence against women and girls is a global phenomenon, exacerbated by intersecting crises such as climate change, global conflicts and economic instability.

The protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the rights of women and girls, together with the promotion of democracy, are key objectives of Czech foreign policy. In international organizations, Czechia advocates for equal opportunities for women and men and actively opposes violence against women and girls, including the use of gender-based and sexual violence in armed conflicts and violence in online spaces.

In 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic joined the Charter Against Domestic Violence. By doing so, it committed to educating its employees on domestic violence issues and implementing measures to assist victims in difficult life situations, for whom the workplace may often be the only safe space.
