On April 25, 2026, the Head of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Rangoon, Petr Starý, attended a dawn commemorative ceremony held on the occasion of ANZAC Day
At Rangoon War Cemetery, the Head of the Czech Embassy, together with the Heads of Mission of Australia, New Zealand and other states, took part in a commemorative gathering to honor the memory of Australian and New Zealand soldiers who are buried or commemorated at the site and who fell in Burma during the First and Second World Wars. The majority of the Australian and New Zealand soldiers died as a result of forced labor on the so‑called Death Railway between Thailand and Burma.
Rangoon War Cemetery is one of three historic war cemeteries in Myanmar. At present, the cemetery contains the graves or commemorations of more than 1,400 members of the Commonwealth armed forces from the First and Second World Wars.
