On October 28 and October 31 2016, the Embassy held two events, one in Yangon and one in Nay Pyi Taw, to celebrate the National Day of the Czech Republic.
On Friday, October 28, 2016 at Shangri-La Residential Complex and at the Ambassador's residence, there was a video presentation of the Czech Republic, with commentary and a selection of posters from exhibition called Czech Gems. The following part of the programme, which was attended by 50 guests from the diplomatic community, the International Culture and Charity Group and representatives of the Parliament of Myanmar / Burma, was a fashion show presenting jewelry of Šenýř Company, ending by a lucky-dip with prices consisting of the Czech art glass.
On the occasion of the visit of H. E. Mr. Jan Mládek, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republicd in the capital Nay Pyi Taw, held a Czech National Day reception was held on October 31, 2016, which, in addition to the Czech delegation present, was attended by about 200 guests, mostly from the ranks of government and parliamentary representatives of the country. Compared to other similar events, we exceptionally valued the participation of two Union Ministers - Science and Trade, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Vice-Chairman of the Upper House of the Union Parliament. As an accompanying program of celebrations, the exhibition Czech Gems was also presented.
The Union Ministers expressed their appreciation for the holding of the National Day reception in Nay Pyi Taw, because the vast majority of such official events takes place in Rangoon, and therefore makes it difficult for them to attend. This year, only the United States, China, United Kingdom and the Czech Republic organized National Day reception in the capital so far.
