The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of representatives of local social and cultural life and the diplomatic community. The main guests from the Czech side were Director General of the National Museum of the Czech Republic Mr. Michal Lukeš and Director General of the National Heritage Institute of the Czech Republic Mrs. Naděžda Goryczková. The guest of honor was Chief Minister of the Yangon Region, Mr. Phyo Min Thein, who visited the Czech Republic and some Czech cultural heritage sights at the end of June this year and the historical monuments in our country and the level of their protection left a profound impression on him.

The exhibition will stay at the local national museum until October 12 and will provide the Myanmar visitors a special chance to see the 37 most interesting castles and chateaus of the Czech Republic. The exhibition does not show only the ones registered on the UNESCO list, it is an exclusive selection that presents artistically, architecturally and historically most significant buildings of this type in the Czech Republic.

Rector of the National University of Arts and Culture in Yangon Mr. Aung Naing Myint said that it is not easy to visit the Czech Republic and this exhibition brings a unique opportunity to get acquainted with Czech history and culture. Ambassador Jaroslav Doleček voiced his hope that this event is the first step towards the launch of bilateral cultural cooperation. Therefore, we are looking forward to hosting a similar exhibition about the rich history of Myanmar in the Czech Republic in next two years.
