Date: 23 March 2024 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM, Venue: Embassy of the Czech Republic

The Embassy of the Czech Republic invites you to celebrate the coming of Easter through Czech and American traditions on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 11 am to 1:30 pm. Register your little ones for an Easter egg decorating workshop and an egg hunt.

Sign up your elder ones (ages 7–12) for a special egg decoration workshop (11 am–12 pm OR 12:30 pm–1:30 pm). The workshop will utilize folk artisan skills on various materials under the direction of Kamila Zvědělíková, a folk artist from the Moravian Region of Czechia. Children under 6 years old may decorate eggs at a come and go pace (11 am – 1:30 pm).

Moreover, view a fashion presentation of traditional Czech national costumes by the queens of the Miss Czech-Slovak US Pageant, Anna Sedivy-Thompson, Destiny Hollingsworth, Drew Hejna, Lauren Luchetti, Emma Carlin, and Dominika Jedinak. To round out the transatlantic Easter traditions, live bunnies from the non-profit organization, Friends of Rabbits, will be on hand for cuddles and selfies.

About the Folk Artist
Kamila Zvědělíková, a folk artist, comes from a village called Prušánky, located in the Hodonín District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. The heritage of the region is reflected in her ornament composition. For six years, she has been painting ornaments. A year ago, she started creating and making bows and scarves for national costumes for the public. Thanks to her study of art, she tries to artistically evolve the ornaments and transform them into unusual shapes, such as cats, in order to spark interest from everyone, including children.
