Music and Chocolate: Levíček and Carrascosa

Join us for an evening as part of Music & Chocolate: Tastes and Sounds of Europe, featuring Czech pianist Jiří Levíček and Spanish trumpeter Víctor Carrascosa in a special jazz performance with works by Ellington, Monk, Ježek, and more on December 12, 2024, at the Embassy of the Czech Republic. Enjoy a chocolate tasting with chocolates from the Czech Republic (Steiner & Kovarik), Slovenia (Leone), and Spain (Jolonch), adding a delicious touch to the evening’s musical journey. Don’t miss this unforgettable fusion of rich flavors and melodies that will delight your senses!

The evening is presented by the Embassy of the Czech Republic, in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain and the Embassy of Slovenia.

About the Artists:

Jiří Levíček is a distinguished pianist, composer, and educator, with expertise in both jazz and classical music. He holds degrees from prestigious institutions, including the University of North Texas and the Janáček Academy, and has taught at notable schools like New York University in Prague and HAMU. A winner of multiple international awards, Levíček's performance and compositional career spans across Europe, China, and South America, with major works such as Morana and Klapzubova jedenáctka.

Víctor Carrascosa (Barcelona 2003) is an emerging trumpet player based in the city of Barcelona where he has already accumulated a wide and rich career. His melodic sense and his intuitive sense of musical beauty are two of his most outstanding characteristics.

More Info about the Music and Chocolate Series: T he European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Washington, DC Cluster presents the project Music and Chocolate: Tastes & Sounds of Europe from Nov. 20-Dec. 12, 2024. Like the many nuances of chocolate, music is bold, sweet, diverse, and surprising. Utilizing the sense of taste and sound, we bring an experience for the senses that highlights the rich, diverse and beautiful layers of European music. From classical to jazz and beyond, we pair inspiring melodies and happenings with a flair of chocolate.

Participating Countries: Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and Switzerland.
